
Tonya R. Moore is a Jamaican speculative fiction writer and editor based in Florida, and a member of SFWA and Codex.
Her latest short story publications include Water Baby, published in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction (F&SF) and Anansi and the Astronaut, published in the Spacefunk! Anthology.

Background
Tonya grew up on the island of Jamaica. She migrated to the USA in 1997 and has been writing speculative fiction part-time since 2009.
Her jobs have included US Army soldier, police dispatcher, office administrator, and call center operator. She is currently a behavioral health credentialing specialist working for a multi-state non-profit.
Currently pursuing an MFA (Master of Fine Arts) in Creative Writing at Southern New Hampshire University, Tonya has written professionally for companies such as the Paidia Gaming platform and Publishers Weekly.






Tonya was a top finalist for SNHU’s 2017 Fall Fiction Competition. In 2022, she was a Voodoonauts Fellow and also a Runner-up for the Analog Award for Emerging Black Voices. She was Grand Prize Winner of Vocal.media’s 2023 “Microfiction Magic” Challenge, Winner of If There’s Anyone Left Magazine’s 2023 Micro-Fiction Contest. She is also a former team member of the 2021 Hugo Award winner and 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 nominee for the Hugo Award for Best Semiprozine, FIYAH Literary Magazine.
